The Polis cooperative does not hire citizens into civic roles through popularity contests or resume theater. Eligible citizens are drawn by published sortition rules, then trained and paid with transparent stipends.
Welcoming Citizens host newcomer intakes, help first gatherings feel calm, and answer plain-language questions. Compensation type: per-session civic stipend plus training materials.
Conveners prepare rooms, protect the format ritual, coordinate with Partner Venues, and close the loop after a gathering. Compensation type: per-gathering civic stipend and documented travel reimbursement.
Proposition Drafters turn citizen concerns into fair Agora prompts and steelman briefs. Compensation type: per-cycle drafting stipend with public aggregate workload notes.
SARB citizens review algorithm-weight changes, fairness audits, and halt requests. Compensation type: service-term stipend, meeting honoraria, and accessibility reimbursement.
Stipends are civic compensation, not prize money. Amounts are published by city, role, expected hours, meeting cadence, and reimbursement policy before any draw is accepted.
Aggregate draw counts, accepted seats, declined seats, replacement draws, and stipend bands are published without exposing private citizen data.
Openings are filled by stratified sortition from eligible citizen pools. Each draw uses published strata, a verifiable random seed, an invitation window, and replacement draws that preserve aggregate composition.
There is no resume upload, no cover letter, no popularity campaign, and no apply gamification. Citizens may confirm eligibility and availability, but they do not compete for attention.
Drawn citizens receive role training before service starts. A citizen may decline without penalty, and the replacement pool fills the seat through the same sortition method.
